Social/Meeting
We have a social planned for Wednesday, October 21, meeting at 6:30, dinner at 7:00. The location is Warehouse 22, address is: 1068 W 350 S Suite A, Syracuse, UT 84075. It’s basically on the corner of Hwy 193 and 1000 W in Clearfield. The street to enter is 350 S, just south of the 7-11. Because this is catered, we need an RSVP with your choice of dinner item by October 14th. Choices are Margarita Chicken and Mississippi Roast Beef. All dinners come with salad, vegetable, potato, dessert and water. PLEASE call, text or e-mail Richard or Cary Fisher. Looking forward to seeing everyone – we will be social distancing to the extent possible, you’re welcome to bring your mask. This dinner is at no cost for American Legion family members.
COMMANDER’S MESSAGE
Just wanted to take a few minutes to say hi and hope everyone is doing well. This has been a strange year with everything that is going on. We have had a few meetings, but we have limited them.
I want to thank everyone that has sent in their membership. We are sitting at 67%. If you have not sent it in will your please do so. We would like to make 100% by December 31, 2020.
For God and Country
Gary McKay Post Commander

Adjutant
As the Commander has said we have had a different year. All the National meetings have gone to online. But saying that, our membership is above last year at this time. Our Department Service office is doing all the claims by what is called out reach – not in the office, but being done.
I will have 2021 membership cards with me at the social for those that have not renewed. I am working on giving out
WWII and Korea pins to our members who have their membership paid by the end of October. Everyone stay safe and things can only get better.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
We are glad to have several new members who have transferred on to the post this year. Please be sure to welcome them.
WHAT’S HAPPENING
The Quilts of Valor of Utah gave two quilts to two of our members this year. Congratulations to William Moore and Clyde Perry.
AUXILIARY NEWS:
What a strange year – no ALA Utah Girls State, no Department Convention, no National Convention. We’re trying to get back to some sort of schedule and still keep ourselves healthy. Hope to see all of you at the social on October 21st. We visited the place the other day and the food smelled yummy!!!
On behalf of our Unit, I made reminder phone calls for military people who had signed up to receive backpacks from the Backpack Brigade that we have participated with in the past. They handed the backpacks out in the school parking lot and gave the families a set time to come. We will not be doing our annual Gift Shop the same way this year – the first change in probably 50 years – due to COVID. Pre-orders for specific items will be taken at the Christofferson Veterans Home and Ivins Veterans Home and the veterans who participate in the regular Gift Shop will be able to participate at the Christofferson Home’s pre-order event. If you choose to send a donation for Gift Shop, we are asking for money instead of items this year. We will be redoing all the poppy wreaths for Memorial Day with new poppies. I’ll let you know when we have some work parties for this. We will hold ALA Utah Girls State in June, whether it be in person or a virtual Girls State. Several programs did that last year, we just weren’t prepared. Girls who could not attend last year will be invited to attend this year’s session. We did raise the cost to $450.00.
Membership notices were mailed from National – our dues are $35.00 for Senior members and $7.00 for Junior members. We also have new members to welcome – thanks for joining us!
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. We appreciate you.
